New Friends

I don't have many Mommy friends that live close (or have girls around Stephanie's age). It has been really hard for me lately....feeling kinda isolated, until last week.

I met a homeschool mommy from church yesterday (via the phone). We talked for over an hour (I so don't do that!) She has 5 kiddos, is involved in fostercare/adoption and went to my highschool (graduated a few years before me). It is SUCH a blessing to have someone in the area who is homeschooling and can help us figure things out! I rely on my aunt and cousin so much.....but they are in Cali. Laws and procedures are different from state to state, plus I want to start getting involved in outtings and such this summer so Stephanie make friends. Josh and I also have talked seriously about doing foster to adopt later on......I want to adopt since I am adopted. This Mommy from church was such an encouragement!! We talked like we have known eachother for years.

I also have connected with several girls in our homegroup and we are going to start to do a Saturday morning book study a couple times a month. Two other girls in my homegroup are trying to get prego also....and we have all been trying for about the same amount of time (it's SOOOOO nice to have someone going through the ups and downs of that with me!!!!) So exciting!!!

Thank you, God for new friends at church and FINALLY feeling like I am getting connected! I have missed my hometeam girls SO MUCH from the church we left. I finally feel like I will be able to establish similar relationships where we are now (prayer and patience have led to the beginnings of something beautiful).

Off to bed.....will probably post more tomorrow. Looks like we will be iced in (along with half the country!)

  1. You should check out dfwareamoms.com several of the moms on there homeschool. You'll probably see you also have a lot of other things in common with the moms there. I really like having that outlet.
