Quick Update

First let me apologize for not posting any pics this weekend. I was totally absorbed in being a mommy and forgot! I took some super cute pics of my little princess this weekend and will update them soon. Josh and Stephanie are going to go buy me a card reader for the mac so I can update (since my laptop now lives at school). Picture update is #1 on my list when I get my card reader.

Back to school is going great. Stephanie and Josh are having a blast at home and I am enjoying being back at school with my kiddos.....I missed them! I come home every day and laundry is done (even the diapers), the house is clean and Stephanie is happy (usually a bit dirty and her hair isn't done.....but happy is what counts!) Josh is doing an AMAZING job at being Mr Mom....I am SO BLESSED! He'll go back to work Friday and Stephanie will go play at
Ms Rebeccas....she'll love it! She loves Ethan and now she'll be able to follow him around the house (no she's not crawling yet, but she's pretty stinkin good at scooting). Josh and I are in full swing of "Operation Healthy House". I'm cooking meals that are super healthy, we have enjoyed produce from our local farmers market and plan to go every Saturday, healthy snacks fill our fridge and pantry and we are finishing up the last bit of cleaning supplies and making the transition to baking soda and vinegar based products.......healthy and cheap (sounds good to me).

Cheap and frugal is the name of the game and many things have changed at the Brooks' house because of this. Please pray for continued wisdom on both Josh and my part when it comes to financial decisions. I am having fun and looking at this as a challenge (and you all know how much I love a challenge).....Josh isn't as enthusiastic but realizes the value this has for our family.....pray for strength and patience as well :)

Last thing.....being a mom has made me a whole new person and I learn new things every day about myself! New things I discovered this week......I actually enjoy comparing labels and looking for the cheapest, healthiest version of what's on my grocery list (Josh is amazingly patient with me), I LOVE cooking for my family.....REALLY cooking! I've always done chicken, bag rice and frozen veggies....now it's chicken, fresh veggies, old school brown rice, tortilla soup, burritos, spaghetti with spaghetti squash, bean soup and next week I'm going to try eggplant pizzas....sounds yummy (Josh's isn't so convinced :) I'm also making homemade humus (and Josh loves it!) He dips wheat tortillas and I dip celery....fun snack for all :) I now not only do cloth diapers but homemade cloth wipes (and her little hiney bounces back from a rash so fast!) and last....I still watch Jon and Kate plus 8 episodes over and over. We won't have cable in a few short weeks so I'm trying to make them last....pretty sure the DVD's will be on my Christmas list ;)

Like I said....pictures to come as soon as I have my little card reader for the mac. Much love to all and have a wonderful week!

Flower Mound....

Okay, I didn't go to Flower Mound High School.....but when I went to Marcus it was the only Flower Mound high school and this rap would 100% apply to my HS years! Seriously! I can't tell you how many times we went to Taco Bell or Wendy's and just hung out!!! This is TOOOO funny and VERY ACCURATELY portrays life in "Flo-Mo". (we NEVER called it that, by the way) Enjoy!! and I promise to post some pics and video of my little princess this weekend :)

Fun Weekend

The new hair cut! I love it!!! I showered, did my hair and make up in 30 minutes!!!
Kinome magic is the best!! (Lakewood Salon in Dallas)
Well our weekend has come and gone....but we had OH so much fun! Friday and Saturday were great....and today concluded the weekend on a great note! We had some lazy time as a family (including a walk and her first time to swing at the park), cleaned, did laundry, read the paper with Daddy, grocery shopped and had a WONDERFUL fajita dinner at Grandpa Steve and Miss Claudette's house for Uncle Mikie's birthday. The Koehlers are such an AWESOME family and we are so blessed to have them as another set of grandparents for Stephanie! MeMaw came too, she's Uncle Mikie's grandma.....and Stephanie loves her! Stephie Jo has three great grandma's....so much love for such a little girl!

I've checked work email, have laundry done, lunch ready and am about to head to bed to get a goods night rest before starting back to work TOMORROW! Please pray for my strength! I am NOT wanting to leave Stephanie!!!!! It will be an easier transition because Josh will be home with her the next two weeks.....then she'll be at Ms Rebecca's and she LOVES it there! And I'll be counting the days until Thanksgiving break ;) I was made to be a wife and Mommy and it fulfills me in ways I never imagined possible! God sure knew what he was doing when he created the relationship between husband and wife and then mother and child....man I'm glad he's in charge :)

Well enjoy the pictures! Probably won't have any more on until next weekend. Much love to all, have a wonderful week!

(above) Still not crawling, but she loves to play on my workout mat!

Another week GONE!

Well this week has VERY QUICKLY come and gone. Josh and I have gotten TONS done towards having the house in order before I go back to work and making some budget decisions before I turn things back over to him. Starting the 20th he will be back in charge of $$ and I CAN'T WAIT! I paid all the bills and did the budget stuff the first five years of our marriage.....then I turned it over to him which was awesome! Until he was called up to go to Iraq and I once again had to pay all the bills :( So starting the 20th he'll be in charge again and I am VERY excited to have that HUGE responsibility taken off my plate!!

Stephanie has had a VERY fun week! She has spent LOTS of time with her Mommy and Daddy playing and scooting ALL over the floor. We swifferVac once a day and she still ends up covered in dog hair and dirt all over her little tummy from scooting around. She LOVES her babyfood and is eating about 4oz each "meal". She eats with us at the kitchen table and has started being able to actually drink out of her sippy cup (and not just chew on it). She spent Wednesday evening with her Gamma and Gampa so Josh and I could go to homegroup. She got to stay up late and have dinner outside.....Gamma and Gampa RULE! Mum came over tonight to visit with her before going to church. She had on this AWESOME bracelet that Stephanie kept trying to grab. Then Stephanie showed Mum how to play with her laptop.....Josh found this laptop toy for Stephanie and she loves it!

Josh and I are enjoying our last few days as a family of three.....the calm before the storm! Monday I go back to work and he will about a week after that. Stephanie will go to Rebecca's half day to ease in the transition of not being with Mommy and Daddy (doubt she'll mind, she LOVES Rebecca and her boys!) So life is going right along and as wonderful as ever! Enjoy these pictures! I'll try and post one more time before I go back to work Monday, after that I have no idea how often I'll post for a bit. We are also changing internet providers and am not sure how that'll impact loading pics and such. Much love to all!

Busy Week!

This past week was fun, busy and super tiring! Josh had his last day at the base Wednesday which was also my first meeting of the new school year. Stephanie went to Ms Rebeccas and did great.....she was SO excited to see Ryan and Ethan (as were they to see her). She did great as always.

Thursday started our last few days of doing nothing but being a family. Josh and I will both return to work on the 18th.....wow! Time has flown by! We have run errands, had dinner with friends (the Rays and McGranes), slept alot, watched the Olympics and started the HUGE task of cleaning and organizing our lives. Seriously, Josh still hasn't finished unpacking and I haven't cleaned out my closet or garage since I got prego (yes, that's about a year of not cleaning them out.....man have I got a big job ahead of me). So far we have cleaned the house, I reorganized the kitchen and caught up on laundry (for now ;)

Still to do: beautify the yard, organize closet and bathroom, get Stephanie all packed up for Rebeccas and buy some back to school pants.....that's my list. Josh has a million phone calls to make along with unpacking and cleaning out his side of the closet. We'll have a busy, but productive week!

Today Stephanie and I got up at 5:30. We had breakfast, played and she went down for her nap at 7:30. I'm enjoying some quiet time to update the blog and get a head start on emails from work. Stephanie and I are both going to start adjusting to getting up early (but she gets a nap! I'm going to be SOOO ready for bed tonight!!!) The nice thing about getting up early is that I'll get more on my list done (I have to keep reminding myself there is a nice part about getting up early ;)

Well, here are some super cute pictures of the girl (sorry it's taken so long). She loves trying to use her sippy cup....still not very good at it. She eats breakfast, lunch and dinner in her high chair enjoying an assortment of homemade veggie "dishes", she is still having teething issues (fever, diaper rash, chewing EVERYTHING). I can't tell if it's from the same tooth or another one coming in....I cut two in one week, then took a break for a few months (would love it if she did the same). She still can't figure out how to move her arms to crawl....so she just army crawls ALL OVER the house! Josh bought me a swiffer vac and I LOVE IT! The dog hair drives me nuts when Stephanie crawls through it. I can swiffer vac each night and it makes a HUGE difference (and only takes like 5 minutes)........a little OCD, I know. Stephanie can say da-da-da-da-da and when I say "Where's Daddy" she looks right at Josh.....too precious! She has no idea that I'm "Mommy" but she loves me anyways :) Being a mommy rocks and having Josh home is the best ever! We have adjusted to live as a family of three and it's like he was never gone. Thank you, God for giving me such an amazing husband who loves his Daddy duties and still makes sure he is being the best husband possible for me.......I am blessed beyond words.

Much love to all, have a great week!

Sneak Preview of pics to Come

This is our new do.....a cute little pony-tail. She started pulling out her bows (no bueno!)
Practicing with our big girl cup. She can't drink much from it, but it sure feels good to chew on!
Her big mess! She pulled all her books off her shelf and then just left them....sounds like her momma!
Mom, could you leave us alone! We are busy playing down here ;)
My big girl in her bumbo. She LOVES to look at books!!! A girl after her Mommy's own heart!!

Updates...

I'm tired and had a VERY rough night last night....but here are a few quick updates:

  • Stephanie has a tooth! It's sharp and super cute! We'll try and get a picture tomorrow (it's still sensitive today).
  • Josh and I return to work two weeks from today.....where has time gone!?!?!?!
  • Stephanie is now scooting all over the living room.....not crawling yet but so close.
  • Stephanie loves sweet potatoes and acorn squash. We are trying to decide what to introduce next (will go to Central Market for some inspiration).
  • I LOVE having her little hiney in cloth diapers! I don't mind washing them daily (about to go to every other day once I buy a few more)
  • Josh's dad is home, back and work and seems to be doing well. He is suppose to go to the dr for some follow up......
  • Stephanie will start going to the nursery next week. I'm a little sad and worried, but know she'll LOVE being around the other kids. Praying she doesn't get sick!!!
  • The Texas heat has been GREAT (for drying my cloth diapers....otherwise it sucks!)
  • I'm re-reading Harry Potter getting ready for the new movie coming out in NOVEMBER
  • AUNTIE KIMMI UPDATED HER BLOG! TONS of pictures! Enjoy!

Cute pictures to come.....I've had a ton of fun spending time with Stephanie and taking cute pics of my little family. I'm finishing up some editing and then will post them. Much love to all :)
