Quick Update

First let me apologize for not posting any pics this weekend. I was totally absorbed in being a mommy and forgot! I took some super cute pics of my little princess this weekend and will update them soon. Josh and Stephanie are going to go buy me a card reader for the mac so I can update (since my laptop now lives at school). Picture update is #1 on my list when I get my card reader.

Back to school is going great. Stephanie and Josh are having a blast at home and I am enjoying being back at school with my kiddos.....I missed them! I come home every day and laundry is done (even the diapers), the house is clean and Stephanie is happy (usually a bit dirty and her hair isn't done.....but happy is what counts!) Josh is doing an AMAZING job at being Mr Mom....I am SO BLESSED! He'll go back to work Friday and Stephanie will go play at
Ms Rebeccas....she'll love it! She loves Ethan and now she'll be able to follow him around the house (no she's not crawling yet, but she's pretty stinkin good at scooting). Josh and I are in full swing of "Operation Healthy House". I'm cooking meals that are super healthy, we have enjoyed produce from our local farmers market and plan to go every Saturday, healthy snacks fill our fridge and pantry and we are finishing up the last bit of cleaning supplies and making the transition to baking soda and vinegar based products.......healthy and cheap (sounds good to me).

Cheap and frugal is the name of the game and many things have changed at the Brooks' house because of this. Please pray for continued wisdom on both Josh and my part when it comes to financial decisions. I am having fun and looking at this as a challenge (and you all know how much I love a challenge).....Josh isn't as enthusiastic but realizes the value this has for our family.....pray for strength and patience as well :)

Last thing.....being a mom has made me a whole new person and I learn new things every day about myself! New things I discovered this week......I actually enjoy comparing labels and looking for the cheapest, healthiest version of what's on my grocery list (Josh is amazingly patient with me), I LOVE cooking for my family.....REALLY cooking! I've always done chicken, bag rice and frozen veggies....now it's chicken, fresh veggies, old school brown rice, tortilla soup, burritos, spaghetti with spaghetti squash, bean soup and next week I'm going to try eggplant pizzas....sounds yummy (Josh's isn't so convinced :) I'm also making homemade humus (and Josh loves it!) He dips wheat tortillas and I dip celery....fun snack for all :) I now not only do cloth diapers but homemade cloth wipes (and her little hiney bounces back from a rash so fast!) and last....I still watch Jon and Kate plus 8 episodes over and over. We won't have cable in a few short weeks so I'm trying to make them last....pretty sure the DVD's will be on my Christmas list ;)

Like I said....pictures to come as soon as I have my little card reader for the mac. Much love to all and have a wonderful week!

  1. Wow you are AMAZING...I am so impressed with how healthy all your food is...great job. I can't say that for my self right now...oh well..there is a season for everything. So I am dying to know...how do you make homemade wipes? Is it just like paper towels and water? Very interesting. So glad to hear that everything is going great...and I can't wait for pics :).
